Van Lou (Dawson) Pierce

Van Lou Dawson Pierce, 84, of Paragould, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.  She was born June 20, 1932, in Stanford, Arkansas, to Eli Howard and Josephine Felty.  She grew up in the Stanford farming community.  An employee of Ed White Shoe factory for several years, she later went on to General Electric where she retired.   Mrs. Pierce enjoyed staying active.  She was a pink lady volunteer at St. Bernards and participated with the Sr. Bee’s.  She was of Baptist faith and thoroughly loved being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a wonderful woman who greatly enjoyed every moment with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Lloyd Dawson, Sherman Pierce; four sisters, Gracie Faulkner, Marcie Gibson, Alma Mohr and Dovie Felty; two grandsons, Chad and Brad Dawson.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Dianne and Dennis Johnston; son, Rick Dawson; sister, Ruthie Tindall; brother, Howard (Buck) Felty; grandchildren, Sonya and Jeff Huffmaster, Kevin and Emily Kibler, Patsy Johnston, Dennis Johnston Jr., and Suzanne; eight great grandchildren; Tanisha and Josh Haynes, Latasha and Jonny Schrader, Shania Kibler, Jessica Huffmaster, Shelby Huffmaster, Vanessa Johnston, Sarah Johnston and Scotty Huffmaster; along with lots of lovely nieces, handsome nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Marion and Nathan Gramling officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Ellis, Scotty Huffmaster, Jonny Schrader, Jeff Huffmaster, Denny Johnston and Joe Lowe.
