Cleadus Preston Butler

February 17, 1926 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 91) 91 Years Old


Cleadus Preston “C.P.” Butler, 91, met his Savior on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. He was born February 17, 1926, to Charlie and Hazel Tennison Butler. Cleadus was a World War II Navy veteran that served in the Pacific Theater. He was present in Tokyo for the Japanese surrender in 1945. Cleadus was in the first graduating class of Greene County Tech in 1948. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and active in American Legion. He was also retired farmer.

Cleadus was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Doris Robinson Butler; and 5 siblings.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Bridget Butler and their son, Brandon Butler, all from Paragould, Kent and Ann Butler of Paragould, and their children, Megan Butler, Tyler Butler (Brooke) and daughter, Kenleigh, all of Sunnyvale Texas, and Mikala Butler of Cape Girardeau, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Dawn and David Wells of Quito, Ecuador, and their children, Ashleigh Wells and daughter, Layla, and Bryce Wells all of Louisville, KY; and sister, Pat Crawford of Antioch, CA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 13, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Sunday, January 14, at 2 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Gerald James officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.

Lasting memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church or Pine Log Cemetery.
