Harlan Wade Crouch, 83, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family on Sunday, December 10, 2017.  He was born in Marmaduke on May 30, 1934, to Dock Crouch and Estelle Mann Crouch, the youngest of three children.  At the age of 18, Harlan left Marmaduke to take advantage of the industrial growth that was occurring in Flint, Michigan.  Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the Air Force serving from 1953-1957.  In 1961, Harlan moved his young family to Paragould where he remained for the rest of his life.

Harlan gave the greatest gift to his children when in 1966 he married Patsy Sue Wilson Eastin.  He worked hard providing for the family and eventually retired from Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in 1972.  Unable to remain idle, Harlan turned his attention to gardening.  His backyard became an oasis and his tomatoes were desired by many.  Sadly his wife, Patsy, passed in 1999 following a long illness in which Harlan lovingly cared for her.  In 2000, he married Verda Roush at Center Hill Church of Christ where they are members.

Everyone laughs when remembering his pranks such as letting his family believe he was an Indian fighter and pretending to wander off and get lost.  All of his family will miss the advice he willingly gave, especially on the proper way to care for our vehicles, seeing he was very particular with his.  Harlan will forever be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and most of all grandfather.  Harlan was considered Peepaw by more than just his biological grandchildren; their friends and family members from all sides lovingly adopted him as their own.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Darrell Crouch and Faye Crouch McCoy, and her husband, Bill; stepson and stepdaughter in law, Phil and Wanda Roush.

He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Verda; children, Debbie Crouch Holloway and Butch Crouch; stepdaughter, Rita Roush Gladish (Terry); grandchildren, Bobbie Noel Davis (Tim), Perry Noel, Ashly Holloway West (Chris), Lacey Crouch, Blake Crouch, Lindsay Crouch (Kyle); step grandchildren, Brandon (Kelly) Gladish, Amy (Jake) Moore, Ashley Reed,  and Melissa (Chad) Henson; 13 great grandchildren; sister in law, Shirley Crouch, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Michael Meredith officiating.  Burial will follow at Cudd Cemetery in Marmaduke.

David Pecoraro, Chuck Palmer, Tony Cable, Manuel Johnson, Kevin Cable, and Brandon Gladish will serve as pallbearers.  Dean Tripp, Lavoy Sanders, Charles Long, and Don Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Lasting memorials may be made to the Center Hill Church of Christ Food Pantry.
