Helen Lamb, 78, of Paragould, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was born January 17, 1940, to Floyd and Lorene Baldwin. She married Glen Lamb on August 14, 1959. Helen worked for the City of Paragould from 1977 until 1997 where she began her career as a secretary, later being the Assistant Public Works Director. Helen was then promoted to Public Works Director. She was the first female Public Works Director in the United States. She was a volunteer for the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Auxiliary. Helen was a faithful member of the Village Creek Church of Christ. She loved baking and cooking. Helen was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Lamb; son, Gordon Lamb; brothers, Leon, Donald, Jim, and Richard Baldwin; and sister, Shirley Swain.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Paula Lamb; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Brad Bauer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Charlotte Baldwin, Cletis and Billie Sue Baldwin, Tommy Baldwin; sister, Karen Close; grandchildren, Caleb Bauer, Mandi Bauer, Eli (Hannah) Bauer, and Bree Lamb; special cousin, Sue Gladdis; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Holden Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cardwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Junior Baldwin, Clay Harrison, Kevin Evans James Reeks, Lance Liddell, and Jamie Butler. Jack Jamison will serve as honorary pallbearer.
