John "Jerry" Mitchell

John “Jerry” Mitchell, 75, of Paragould, passed away Jan. 1. He was born to Jess and Josephine (Shepler) Mitchell on June 25, 1942, in Rices Landing, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Mitchell; and sister, Betty Mitchell Long.

 He is survived by his wife, Deanna “Dee” (Monroe) Mitchell; five children, John (Donna) Mitchell of Strongsville, Ohio, Tom (Penny) Mitchell of Fort Collins, Colo., Mark (Kelley) Mitchell of Paragould, Cathy (Steve) Pickett of Greer, S.C., and Mary Page of Grenville S.C.; seven grandchildren, Jackie, Jess, Emily, Megan, Allie, Daniel and Chelsea; and brother, Robert (Nancy) Mitchell of Strongsville.

Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould and was involved with the Future & Hope Christian Women's Job Corps. He worked in the manufacturing industry but never thought of himself as boss; instead, people called him “Coach.” He was a loyal Ohio sports fan. He was full of life, loved being with his family and had many nieces and nephews. He adored his grandchildren, supported their endeavors and was the leader of their own club. He often ended messages AHFY: always here for you.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 8, 2018, from 4 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home.
