Joseph Henry Rowe, 86, of Paragould, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born April 23, 1931, and reared on a farm in the Mountain Home community to Charlie and Mamie Rowe. Joe worked as a farmer, operated a Grade A Dairy, worked as an accountant, Tax Practitioner, and retired in 1995 from Craighead Electric Cooperative in Jonesboro, and First Electric Cooperative in Jacksonville, with 31 years in management. He served for 22 years as Coordinator for India Evangelism, a mission work of Commissary Church of Christ. Joe served 41 years as an elder for area Churches of Christ. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He served 21 years as a member of the board of the Electric Cooperative Federal Credit Union in Little Rock and 7 years as a board member of Crowley’s Ridge Academy in Paragould.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, Jessie L. Rowe; two brothers, Macon and Chester Rowe; and a sister, Carmelita (Rowe) Lenderman, all of Paragould.
Joe is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kathy Rowe, Kelly and Lenia Rowe of Paragould; and five grandchildren, Kenna and Nick Holt, Kyle and Magen Rowe, William, Whitney, and Weslyn Rowe.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Commissary Church of Christ. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Commissary Church of Christ with Art Smith and Evan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.
The family requests no flowers, but lasting memorials may be made to Crowley’s Ridge Academy, Crowley’s Ridge College, or the Children’s Homes, all of Paragould.
