Lida Joanna Miller

Lida Joanna Miller, 81, of Light, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. She was born January 5, 1936, to L.W. and Lida Maple.  Joanna worked at the shoe factory for years before she stayed home to care for her family.  She was a wonderful homemaker.  Joanna was a lifelong member of Light Baptist Church.  She looked after the members of her church and the community; she truly had a servant’s heart.  If there was a need, she found a way to help.  Everyone that knew her called her “Maw Miller”.   Joanna loved the Lord, her family, and friends.    

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enos Doyle “Baldy” Miller; grandson, Jeremy Miller; and brothers, Alvin, Bob, & Donald Maple.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Doyle and Becky Miller, Stevy Joe and Mary Lou Miller; brothers, Glen and Leonard Maple; sisters, Dottie Gossett and Peggy Whitlow; grandchildren, Matthew Doyle Miller, Allison Poe, Kristen Wallace, Scotty Joe Miller, Jeffery Daniel Miller, and Jeffrey & Chris Grimes; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Glen Newberry, Joe Pratt, Billy Joe Witcher, Roger Beck, Jeffery Miller, and Scott Miller.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 18, 2017, in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home beginning at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Stacy and Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
