Pearl Lucille Hamilton

October 10, 1923 ~ December 28, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old


Pearl L. Hamilton, 94, of Paragould passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017.  She was born October 10, 1923, in Beech Grove, to Charles and Lucy Newberry.  Pearl had a passion for education.  She taught elementary for over 45 years at Greene County Tech (Lakeside) and Paragould School District.  She was active with the Arkansas Education Association, member of Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Greene County Teachers Association.  Pearl had a talent for calligraphy.  She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.  Pearl enjoyed helping people and was an extraordinary caregiver. 

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Hamilton; grandson, Michael Hamilton Jurczyk; brothers, Woodrow Newberry, Wallace Newberry, Wilburn Newberry, and Frank Newberry; sisters, Bernice Williams, and Nola Allison; her poodle, Nicky; and her cat, Kalli.

Survivors include her daughter, Robin Jurczyk, of Paragould, and brother, Tom Newberry, of Lewisburg, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Tim Abanathy officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, lasting memorials to Stanford Baptist Church, % Alvin Miller, 4842 Greene 203 Road, Beech Grove, AR  72412, would be greatly appreciated.

Pearl’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Greene Acres Nursing Home for all their loving care.
