Ruth Lavelle (Mayhan) Ballard

Ruth Ballard, age 95, departed this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House. Ruth was born to James and Eva Mayhan on July 4, 1921, in Tuckerman, AR. She lived in the Light Community and was a member of Light Baptist Church for over 70 years.  Ruth worked at Forget-Me-Not Flowers in Walnut Ridge, AR until her retirement.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Larkin Ballard; a son, Jim Ballard; and a sister, Sybil Ballard.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mary Ballard, of Olathe, KS; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Ballard, of Paragould, AR; three grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Patrick and Mandy Ballard, of Paragould, AR Nathan Ballard, of North Hollywood, CA, and Brendan Gibson, of Olathe, KS; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Cindi Ballard, of Nashville, TN, Tina and Bobby Gadwood, of Olathe, KS, and Marci and Chip Handley, of Shawnee, KS; one great granddaughter, Sammi Jo Ballard, of Paragould, AR. She is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 1 – 2 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016, at Light Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Brother Raymond Atwood and Brother Tommy Stacey officiating. Pallbearers are Scott Wharton, Jesse Hancock, Dennis Fortenberry, Roger Beck, David Pratt and Joe Pratt. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
