Bettie June Williams

Bettie June Williams, 78, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, August 08, 2019, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.  She was born February 3, 1941, at home in Stanford, Arkansas, to Vernon and Bernice Newberry Williams.  Bettie graduated from Stanford High School in 1959.  She then went to Southern Baptist College and graduated in 1961. Bettie furthered her education at Arkansas State College where she graduated in 1963 with her bachelor’s in education.  Bettie taught 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade at Greene County Tech from 1963 to 2006.  Bettie was a member of Stanford Baptist Church.  She volunteered with the Henry Wrinkles Foundation and supported their spay and neuter programs.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, George and Della Meyers Williams; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Lucy Newberry.
Survivors include her uncle, Tom Newberry; cousins, Robin Hamilton Jurczyk, Lucy Baker, Sue Newberry, Tommy Charlynn Allison, Wayne Newberry, Lynda Newberry Abanathy, Glenn Newberry, Ruth Long, Elva Wright, Eileen Duvall, Bill Newberry, Phil Newberry, Wanda Grasser, Cecil Newberry, Tom Newberry, Robert Newberry, David Newberry, Kathy Kintzler, Charles Newberry, Karen Chrisco, Richard Newberry, Roger Newberry, and Kevin Newberry; and her precious furry babies, Lily, Lucy, Lucky and Sissy.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 10, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Tim Abanathy officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
