Buford Williams Obituary
Buford Wayne Williams, 86, of Paragould, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019. He was born June 9, 1933, to Rupert and Hazel Williams. Buford was an active member of Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Buford, a veteran, served in the United States Army. He completed two tours in Vietnam. After 20 years in the Army, he retired and worked on the U.S.S. North Carolina.
Buford was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Wayne Williams; daughter, Debra Lee Williams; brother, James Williams; and sister, Sadie Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joan Williams; sons, Jimmy Lee Williams, Buford Wayne Williams, Jr.; daughter, Cathy Lynn Williams; sister, Ruth Love; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 28, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. A memorial service with military honors will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Stacey Prater and Lynn Hetler officiating. Burial will follow at Gainesville Cemetery.
