Lynda Carolyn Stewart, 77, of Walcott, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was born in Paragould, March 11, 1941, to E. L. and Mildred Wood. Carolyn was an elementary teacher at Crowley’s Ridge Academy for 25 years. After retirement, she taught at the Balcom Learning Center at the Children’s Homes. She was a longtime member of the Walcott Church of Christ. Carolyn enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She looked forward to getting together with her high school girlfriends and former coworkers. Carolyn cherished the many friendships she made over the years. Carolyn was a gracious, dedicated Christian who dearly loved her family, friends, and the many second graders whom she taught over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Andrea Kay Stewart; uncle, Everett Wood; and sister-in-law, Helen Wood.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jackie Stewart of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Lanny and Kim Stewart, Chris and Teri Stewart, Jack and Jill Stewart all of Paragould; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Deronda Wood of Paragould, Bill and Pearline Wood of Paragould, Doyle and Reba Wood of Thayer, Missouri, Jim and Sheila Wood of Overland Park, Kansas; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Garland Robinson of Walcott; eight grandchildren, Grant, Halle, Joshua, Jude, Justus, Jenna, Zane, and Shana all of Paragould; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 26, from 11 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Dan Stokes and Sam Becerra officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mike Wood, Richard Wood, Allen Robinson, James Robinson, David Wood, and Michael Keck will serve as pallbearers.
Lasting memorials may be made to Crowley’s Ridge Academy and the Children’s Homes in Paragould.
