Jerry Eldon Dacus, 82, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Clay County Arkansas, on January 1, 1937, to Gwendola and Alean Dacus. Jerry graduated as the valedictorian of the 1955 Stanford High School Class. He retired in 2005 from Monroe after 28 years of service. Jerry was a great husband and father that always provided for his family. Jerry was a wonderful person that will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Donna Dacus Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances Dacus; son and daughter in law, Kevin and Christine Dacus; sister, Patsy Routon; grandchildren, Zachary Dacus, Danielle Vanoven, Alyssa Smith, and Logan Smith; and 3 great grandchildren, Josiah Bartlett, Jeremiah Bartlett, and Andrew Dacus.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 19, from 11 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Art Smith and Evan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
Brad DeHart, Barry DeHart, David DeHart, Eric DeHart, Dallas Gilmore and Wayne Ellenburg will serve as pallbearers. Chick DeHart and Dallas DeHart will serve as honorary pallbearers.
