Jesse Lorenzo Johnson

 Jesse L. Johnson, 77, passed away in his home in Paragould on Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was born on May 22, 1942, in Knobel, AR. Jesse enjoyed making crafts with popsicle sticks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Adams and Jesse “Jake” Johson; first wife, Wanda Johnson; son Johnny Johnson; second wife, Betty Johnson; brothers, John Johnson, Arlen Johnson; sisters, Alice Mann, Helen Burlison, Osie Hernandez; grandson, Michael Rueottom; and granddaughters, Debra Stone and Francis Watson.

Survivors include his sons and daughters in law, Dannie and Kathy Kersey of Breckenridge, TX, Wendell and Rhonda Kersey of Lafe, AR, Calvin and Rebecca Johnson of Fairhope, AL, Donnie and Sheryl Johnson of Corning, AR, Ricky and Tisha Johnson of Rector, AR; daughters and sons in law, Tena Hollingworth of Paragould, Sandra and Nathan Davis of Paragould, Jonie and Rodney Morris of Oak Grove, AR; sisters, Nona Quiroz, Barbara Goodman, Deb Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Irum of Chickasha, OK; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with David Mote officiating. Burial will follow at Bonds Cemetery.

Calvin Johnson, Donnie Johnson, Wendell Kersey, Dillon Johnson, Matthew Davis, and Jeff Wyrick will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Nathan Davis, Michael Morris and Rodney Morris.

The family would also like to give thanks to Jesse’s caregiver and good friend, Jeff Wyrick. Also, big thanks to the great Dierkson Hospice Team.
