Louis Ray Young, Sr., 78, of Paragould passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019. He was born in Campbell, Missouri, March 22, 1940, to Howard Glen and Genevieve Elizabeth Young. Louis served in the United States Army from 1963-1965, where he was stationed in Germany. He worked at Rice’s Hardware in Campbell, Missouri and MFA Oil in Bernie, Missouri, until retiring in 2002. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Louis raised goats and loved to take his grandson fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leslie Young.
Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Louis Ray Young, Jr. and Mandy of Paragould; daughter, Daronda Young of Springfield, Missouri; brothers, Leon Young of Dexter, Missouri, Cleatus Young of Etta, Mississippi, Howard B. Young of Piggott; sisters, Nadine Lemarr of Campbell, Missouri, Glenda Cates of Campbell, Missouri, Mildred Brown of Greenville, Missouri, Frela Wilson, of Yelleville, Arkansas, Wanda Vangilder of Yelleville, Arkansas, Phyllis Dye of Malden, Missouri, Catherine Clement of California, Missouri, Melba Clubb of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Debbie Johnson of Clarkton, Missouri; grandchildren, Hannah Young and Justin Young.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 12, at 1:00 until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Sean Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.
Kenny Lemarr, Kyle Brewer, Justin Young, Matthew Benson, Glen Lemarr, and Richard Lemarr will serve as pallbearers.
