Russell Leon McClure, age 85, of Paragould, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Tamaroa, Illinois, December 6, 1931, to Jeff and Nellie (Dial) McClure. He was a member of Village Creek Church of Christ in Paragould. Leon was in the United State Army and worked in school administration for 38 years. He was a Mason. After retiring, he spent several years doing carpenter work and caring for his family.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Glenda Churchwell; and nephew Eric Churchwell.
Survivors include his wife Patsy (Vowell) McClure; son, D. Wayne McClure of Dallas, Tx; daughters, Jackie Waller and Linda English of Paragould; sisters, Anita Allen, Lavon Berry, and Phyllis Ford; two grandchildren, Amberly Fender and Jeffery English of Paragould; five great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, October 23, at 2 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Michael Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Terry Agee, Jerry Agee, J.W. Dial, Jesse Dial, Jerry Gilliam, and Buck Lyerly will serve as pallbearers. Raymond Dehem, Huron Dial, Royce Dial, Jim Ford, Winford Cox and Bill Orr will serve as honorary pallbearers.
