Allen Leathon Smith, 87, passed away on November 3, 2026. Born on July 7, 1939, Allen lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep enjoyment of the simple pleasures that brought people together.
Allen was a plumber his whole life, a trade he carried with pride and dedication. He also owned his own business, Allen's Plumbing and Septic Tank Service, building his livelihood through steady work and commitment. He enjoyed work and was known as a big family man, qualities that shaped the way he lived and the way he was remembered by those who knew him.
Outside of work, Allen found joy in many things. He loved traveling and especially enjoyed time spent on the road making memories. He liked visiting flea markets, hunting, fishing, and farming, and he also enjoyed going to casinos. Some of his happiest times were spent visiting family and friends, sharing conversation, laughter, and the comfort of being together.
Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Louise; mother, Mable Smith; father, Earl Smith; sister, Vera Moore; and son-in-law, Rick Hendrix.
He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Hendrix, Alessia Gladish (Rodney), Pamela Tritch (Darryl), Tamela Foresythe (Joe), Sandra Priest (Alex), Veronica Blackburn (Greg). He is also survived by his brothers, Bill Smith, Wayne Smith, James Smith, Buddy Smith, David Smith, and Donnie Smith; sisters, Sharon, Glenda, and Sandra. Allen’s family also includes twelve grandchildren and their spouses, numerous great-grandchildren and their spouses, and three great-great-grandchildren all of whom carry forward the memory of his love for family and the example of a life spent caring for those around him. He will be remembered with affection by his loved ones and by the many family members and friends whose lives were brightened by his presence.
Visitation will be held on November 7, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., also at Phillips Funeral Home with Dennis Strope officiating. Burial will be at Finch Cemetery following the service.
Brian Gladish, Bradley Harris, Brandon Foresythe, Ricky Hendrix, Chris Foresythe, and Cody Smith will serve as pallbearers.
