Obituary

Betty Sue (Luke) Dortch, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2026, in her hometown of Paragould, Arkansas. Born on September 15, 1944, in Paragould, Betty dedicated much of her life to her family and her career, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, humor, and unwavering devotion.

Betty was widely known for her quick wit and warm personality, traits that endeared her to family and friends alike. She retired from Emerson Electric, where she was respected for her hard work and commitment. To her children, she was simply "the best mom ever," a testament to the deep appreciation and love she inspired in those closest to her.

Her role as the rock of her family was unmistakable. Betty’s profound care and concern for her loved ones underscored every aspect of her life. She maintained a delightful routine watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

Betty is survived by her devoted son, Keith Franks (Elisha Fletcher); her loving daughter, Sonya Brown (Delbert). She was a proud grandmother to Cody Franks, Chance Copeland, Zachary Franks (Matilda), Lindsey Irwin (Alton), Megan Franks, Christian Franks (Alexis Jones), Emily Dalton, Scott Chism, Tabatha Owens, Zane Fletcher, Alexie Fletcher, Makayla Fletcher, Amber Scheer, and Tyler Brown. Betty’s joy extended to her great-grandchildren: Eric Copeland, Elyjah Copeland, Edelaya Copeland, Elias Owens, Chason Lasyone, Jonah Franks, Ezekial Franks, Shadday Lopez, Maddix Simpson, Carly Rodden, Trey Rodden, Skye Irwin, Ro Irwin, and Jack Irwin. Betty is also survived by a close family friend, Erica Wheat, and many extended family members and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Raymond and Albertine Luke; her husband, J.W. Dortch; her daughter, Tonya Beasley; grandson, Ryan Beasley; and siblings Bobby Luke, June Dillon, and Jimmy Don Luke.

Betty’s life will be honored with a visitation on Saturday, June 20, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m., both to be held at Phillips Funeral Home. All who knew Betty are invited to attend these gatherings to celebrate a life well-lived, rich with love, laughter, and enduring memories.
