Betty Jean Smith, 79, of Paragould, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. She was born August 1, 1943, to Maurice and Goldie Imogene Orr. Betty was a registered nurse in OB at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center for 30 years and worked in recovery for 10 years. She loved fishing and going to her lake house at Norfork Lake. Betty loved getting together every day with a group of ladies to eat lunch at McDonald's.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed Smith; son, Ray Gene Wineland; and infant twin sister.
Survivors include her son, Greg (Leigh) Wineland; brother, Gerald (Marilyn) Orr; stepsons, William "Bill" Smith, Jim (Michelle) Smith, Scott Smith; stepdaughters, Cindy (Bill) Bradford, DeAnna Ybarra;  grandchildren, Tim Wineland, Britt Wineland, Kenzie (Jeremy) McCormic; great-grandchildren, Brentley, Beckham, Brody, Link; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Schwarzen, Ryan Schwarzen, Miranda Schwarzen, Emily Bradford, Yuna Ybarra; and step-great-grandchildren, Lyla, Xylia, and Willow.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Jason Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Jerry Orr, Tim Wineland, Jeremy McCormic, Brody Williams, Britt Wineland, and John Brittingham will serve as pallbearers.
