Betty Jean Tate, 89, of Paragould, passed away August 25, 2016, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.  She was born March 24, 1927, in Paragould, to the late Homer and Pearl Pickens.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.  Reading the Bible was a daily activity for Betty who attended East Side Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leland Ryburn Tate; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; and a grandson, Thomas Ryan Murphy.

Survivors include Betty's daughter, Terry Murphy; brother, James Pickens; grandchildren and their significant others, Lee Owen, Shelly Gist, Greg Owen, Jena Murphy, Cody Wilburn, Sherri Murphy, and Brandon Slatton; great grandchildren, Asher, Anderson, Alexa, and Cash.

There will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 29, at Linwood Cemetery with Royce Boling officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the 3 east staff at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Betty.
