Obituary

Bobby Wayne Winn, age 82, passed peacefully from this life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at AMMC in Paragould, AR surrounded by family. Bob was born to Sammy Haley and Mary Etta (Robinson) Winn in Schugtown, AR on August 23, 1935. He was a graduate of Dixie High School, class of 1954. Bob spent 14 ½ years in Thermal, CA working for CV Cairty Water District. He moved his family back to Paragould in 1972. He retired from Martin Sprocket & Gear after 25 years. In his younger days, he loved playing baseball, fishing, golf, and won several trophies for bowling. He was a member of the Oak Grove Heights Baptist Church. In years past, he taught Sunday School and was active in the men's ministry. Bob enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To many people in Paragould, he was known as "The Candyman."


He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy Haley and Mary Etta (Robinson) Winn; one sister, Dorthia Agnes Johnson; one brother, Rual Esco Winn, and one son, David Allen Winn.


He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Irma (Cook) Winn. Survivors also include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Tammy Winn, Gary and Sherylette Winn; and one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ralph Horner, all of Paragould; nine grandchildren, Samuel and April Winn, Jonathan and Carissa Winn, Sarah and Elliot Blackmon, Michael James, Rachel and Nathan Haynes, Joseph Winn, Hannah Winn, Lauren Norden, and Leigha Norden; seven great-granchildren, Lane, Foster, Asher and Jace Winn, Ella, Aubrey and Andrew Blackmon; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. with David Stallings officiating.


Pallbearers include Samuel Winn, Jonathan Winn, Michael James, Joseph Winn, Elliot Blackmon, and Nathan Haynes. Honorary pallbearers include Lance Winn, Randy Winn, and Rick Walker.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Thompson and his staff; the nurses & staff from 3 East and 3 Central at AMMC; St. Bernards and NEA Baptist; HealthSouth, Greene Acres and Belle Meade for their love and care for him and for AMMC Home Health for all the love and kindness they showed him.
