With heavy hearts, we remember Sissy Ethridge, who passed away on August 14, 2026, in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 72. Born on January 21, 1954, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, Sissy’s journey was one colored by love, a gentle humor, and a wholehearted zest for life’s small joys.

Sissy was the cherished daughter of Horace Franklin Ethridge and Wanda Mae Ethridge, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brothers Ronnie, Terry, and Mike Ethridge, each of whom held a special place in her heart and in the family they all treasured.

Those blessed to call Sissy family will deeply feel her absence: her devoted brothers Rick (Ellen), Joey (Sherry), and Danny (Debbie) Ethridge, and her dear sister, Kathy Jones (John). She was lovingly spoiled—especially by her mother, her sister, and her brother-in-law—who delighted in making her smile and ensuring she always felt special.

Sissy found simple delight in her vast collection of teddy bears, amassing them with a childlike joy and cherishing each one as a symbol of comfort and sweetness. Friends and family fondly remember her playful claim that she could have given Roy Chesnut a run for his money in any hot dog eating contest—a testament to her light-hearted spirit.

Country music was her constant companion. Carolyn also drew tremendous enjoyment from the comedy and antics of Louie Nye, whose humor never failed to bring a smile to her face. Through these passions, she radiated warmth and belonging; those who loved her will remember that she had the rare gift of finding delight everywhere she went, especially eating out.

A funeral service celebrating Sissy Ethridge’s life will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. All whose lives were touched by Sissy’s caring heart are welcome to pay their respects.

Burial will be private.

Sissy didn’t die; she was set free from this body to a glorified body.
