Charles Edward Gibson passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born April 25, 1941, to Cecil and Elsie Gibson in Jonesboro, AR. Charles retired from Coca-Cola after 28 years. He loved fishing, camping, and hunting. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Lee Gibson; sisters, Wanda "Tootsie" Bagus, Ruby Roberts, Una Faye Gibson; brothers, Doug Gibson, Dale Gibson; and an infant sibling.
Charles is survived by his wife of 14 years, Shirley Gibson; children, Shelia Gibson-Turner, Duane (Danita) Gibson, Sherry (Granville) Pankey, Eddie (Rita) Diezel, Cathi (Wayne) King, Carol (Michael) Conatser; honorary daughters, Christa (Jeremy) Owen, Tasia (Brett) Marlin; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Delores) Gibson, Lanny (Shelia) Gibson, Jimmy (Diane) Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 13, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at North Main Baptist Church in Jonesboro. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at North Main Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Tommy Stacy officiating. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery.
Josh Turner, Jason Turner, Dustin Smith, Zane Smith, Charlton Gibson, and Keagan Holman will serve as pallbearers. Jackson Smith, Deacon Smith, Rian King, Mark Turner, Granville Pankey, Michael Conatser, and Wayne King will serve as honorary pallbearers.
