IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christy Lynn
Dews
April 2, 1973 – July 3, 2023
Christy Lynn McDaniel Dews passed away on July 3, 2023 in Dallas, Texas at the young age of 50. Christy was born to Danny and Linda McDaniel on April 2, 1973 in Pekin, Illinois. Christy was saved and baptized at Mulberry Church of Christ in Paragould, Arkansas.
Christy was always full of joy and life and a pleasure to be around. She lived a full life of exotic food, laughs, and adventure. She traveled extensively with her husband to many exciting destinations to include South America, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Together, they saw the mountains and volcanos of Ecuador, the jungle of the Amazon, the islands of the Caribbean. When they traveled down the Amazon they went fishing for piranha and caught a large Tiger Catfish. They ate with the natives and Christy's consensus was…don't eat with the natives.
Throughout her travels her favorite place was the Cayman Islands. Christy and her husband spent nearly 10 years as residents of the Caymans and Christy spent most of her time as a "unofficial" tour guide for visiting family and friends. Her love for food and exotic dishes prompted her to develop her culinary skills. She loved to explore the island and her favorite activity was snorkeling and swimming with stingrays in the beautiful clear aqua green waters of the Caribbean.
Christy is preceded in death by her sister, Tammy Lynn McDaniel. Christy is survived by her husband, Harlan Bedford Dews; Father and Mother, Danny and Linda McDaniel; Siblings, Tracy (Brent) Oglesby, Jason McDaniel and Ginger McDaniel; Nieces and Nephews, Eliana Holcomb, Caleb McDaniel, Kaci McDaniel, Ashley Gilbert, Devin Dews, Dani Dews, Madelynn Benge, Landry Kinsel, and Kristynn Kinsel; Fur Baby, Buddy the Dog (a.k.a) "Boy"; and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also had many dear friends that are too numerous to list.
Visitation for Christy will be two part: family from 9am to 10am, public from 10am to 11:30am at Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould, Arkansas. Funeral services will also be at Phillips Funeral home starting at 11:30am right after public viewing. Kent McDaniel will officiate.
Internment will be at Woods Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Paragould, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Caleb McDaniel, Jason McDaniel, Landry Kinsel, Valen Dews, Harlan Dews, Evan Dews, and Brent Oglesby.
