Dennis Jerome Goldsmith, of Paragould, passed away on November 5, 2026, in Paragould at the age of 80. He was born on September 20, 1946, in Paragould, Arkansas.
Dennis lived a life marked by service, steady work, and care for others. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War Era. In his working life, he served 20 years as a driver for the Paragould Fire Department while also working at Harold Morgan Furniture on his days off. He later retired from his third career after 20 years at Prestolite Wire in Paragould. His life was also one of generosity at home, as he was a foster parent to many young children.
Faith was an important part of Dennis’s life. He was a member of Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church and was well known as a long-time door greeter there. He loved serving the Lord in that role and warmly welcomed his church family every Sunday.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Ferrell Goldsmith; his parents, W.C. “Clayburn” Goldsmith and Ruby Goldsmith; his sisters, Lois Thompson and Joyce Kee; and his brother, Ross Hicks.
He is survived by his special friend, Iris Brown; son, Richard Goldsmith of St Petersburg, FL; his sister, Paula (Mike) Gorecki of Silva, MO; and his brothers-in-law, Jerry (Glenda) Ferrell of Paragould, and Keith (Laura) Ferrell of Greenbriar, AR; many beloved nieces and nephews; loving caregivers and friends at the Chateau on the Ridge. He will be remembered with love by those who knew him and by the many lives he touched through his work, his faith, and his care for children and family.
Dennis was a resident of Chateau on the Ridge where he reconnected with his dear friend, Martha Morgan. They had lunch together daily. His family expressed their praise and appreciation for the love and care provided to him during the past six months.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 9, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Royce Boling officiating. Burial will follow at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery with military honors.
The Paragould Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Elhuarn Tuner, Jerry Lenderman, Tony Staires, and Danny Greer will serve as honorary pallbearers.
If one wishes to make a lasting memorial, Dennis would be honored with donations to the Chateau on the Ridge, 2308 Chateau Blvd, Paragould, AR 72450.
