DeWanda Dees Burney, 72, of Paragould, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018. She was born May 7, 1945, to Dewitt and Velma Dees. DeWanda had a passion for caring for animals. She was very loving and devoted to her children and grandchildren.

DeWanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilmer Burney; and 4 sisters.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Kristen Burney of O'Cala, FL, Seth and Nola Burney of Rector; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Shane Mitchell of Paragould; brothers, Jerry, Frankie, and Russell Dees, Murrell and Gaylon Greer; grandchildren, Nick and Conner Guirbino, Morgan Burney, Christopher Burney, Bethany and Michael Dent, Zachary, Austin, and Madison Mitchell; and great-grandchild, Aydin Burney.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Justin Burney, Seth Burney, Christopher Burney, Shane Mitchell, Austin Mitchell, and Zachary Mitchell.
