IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dortha Mae
Holloway
February 6, 1937 – October 30, 2025
Dorotha Mae Smith Holloway, age 88, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.
Born February 6, 1937, in Lorado, Arkansas, to Walter Clark Perry and Stella Mae (Guest) Perry, Dorotha spent the majority of her life in Greene County, primarily in the Paragould area. She worked in food preparation and as a teacher's aide, but was best known for her 32-year career with Emerson Electric, where she made many lasting friendships and was respected for her hard work, kindness, and gentle spirit.
After the passing of what may have been the love of her life, Charles Smith, in 1978, Dorotha later met Jack Holloway. The two shared many happy years together after marrying and making their home in Russellville.
Dortha lived in Paragould, Russellville, and Hot Springs Village and had many friends in all of these communities.
She enjoyed picture puzzles and spent many hours working on them, finding both relaxation and joy in the challenge they offered. While living in Russellville, she was also an active member of the local Kiwanis Club, where she devoted much of her time—especially around the holiday season—to helping others and spreading cheer throughout her community.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Smith Jr. of Paragould and Jack Holloway of Russellville; brothers Curtis Perry and Homer Perry; and sisters Mary Louise Perry, Anna Lou Brown, and Mildred Tennison.
Dorotha is survived by her children, Wade Murray (Kay) of Paragould and Marilyn Murray of Little Rock; her brother, Lewis Perry of West Plains, Missouri; grandchildren Steven Murray (Nicole) of Hot Springs Village, Jace Lee, Jordan Lee, and Kelsey Lee of Little Rock; and great-grandchildren Lincoln Wade Murray and Alivia Grace Murray.
Dorotha will be remembered for her warmth, faith, and devotion to her family. She found joy in simple things — a good conversation, a home-cooked meal, and time spent with those she loved most. Her laughter, wisdom, and gentle heart will remain with all who knew her.
A graveside service will be on Friday, November 7, at 1 p.m. at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
