Eldon "Ed" Smith, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021. He was born November 23, 1941, to Otis and Euna Smith. Ed was the Mayor of Oak Grove from April of 2002 until May of 2009 and again in April of 2011 until December of 2014. He enjoyed spending time fishing, riding on his pontoon, and other outdoor activities at his summer home in Norfork.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Smith; stepson, Ray Gene Wineland; and infant sister, Genelda Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Betty Smith; sons, William "Bill" Smith, Jim Smith (Michelle), and Scott Smith; daughters, Cindy Bradford (Bill), DeAnna Ybarra (David); stepson, Greg Wineland; grandchildren, Stephanie Schwarzen, Ryan Schwarzen, Miranda Schwarzen, Emily Bradford, Yuna Ybarra, Timothy Wineland, Britt Wineland, and Kenzie McCormick; and great-grandchildren, Lyla, Xylia, Willow, Brody, Link, Brentley, and Beckham.
A memorial service will held on Sunday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Heights Pentecostal Church with Jason Eubanks officiating.
