Ervin Leroy Ray, born September 17, 1949, passed away on September 29, 2026.

Ervin will be remembered as a hardworking man whose life was rooted in construction and concrete, work that reflected his strength, dedication, and steady character. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life. He was a huge Cardinals fan and watched them every day. He loved fishing and hunting, and he enjoyed beginning his mornings at the coffee shop, where conversation and friendship were part of his daily routine. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his wife, Shawna, who shared his life and love; his sons, Larry & Asa Ray, along with their mother, Betty Ray, Christopher Taft (Alaine); his daughter, Tamara Pannells (Bill); and his sister, Barbara Miller. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom were part of the family circle that meant so much to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Ray, and his mother, Lillian Ray, as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Phillips Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with the service following at 12:00 p.m. Bro. Albert Camp will be officiating. The burial will be at Mt Zion Cemetery.

Benny Whitaker, Danny Jernagan, David Giles, John Clark, Harry Sims, and Steve Taylor will serve as pallbearers.

Donnie Fuller and Lannie Sims will serve as honorary pallbearers.
