Felix Tate, 90, passed away April 6, 2017, at Greene Acres Nursing Facility. He was born April 22, 1926, in Paragould, to the late Avery and Mary Tate. Felix was a decorated World War II veteran, an award winning stock car racer in his younger years, and an unparalleled mechanic operating Tate's Auto and Muffler Service for 30 years. He still watched NASCAR until his last Sunday.
Felix was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Tate; and 6 siblings.
He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Julie and Lynn Ratliff of Paragould, and Elizabeth and Bill Jackson of Mountain Home; four grandchildren, Evan Rucker, Bryce Ratliff, Felicia and Owen Hammon; three great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 10, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Winfred Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Ratliff, Bill Jackson, Roger Slayton, Owen Hammon, Willis "Chub" McIlvoy, and Winfred Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Smith, Jerry Hall, and Doye Bayird.
