Obituary

Freda May Carter, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023, at the age of 80. Born on May 28, 1943, Freda was the daughter of the late David and Geneva Coleman.
Freda graduated from Greene County Tech in 1961 and went on to own Time Realtor for many years, where she earned a reputation for her hard work, dedication, and warm personality. She was a member of 7th & Mueller Church of Christ since 1979, where she found solace and strength in her faith and fellowship with her church family.
Freda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leon Carter, her cherished grandson Tyler Howe, and her dear brothers, David and Larry Coleman. She is survived by her loving son, Tony Carter, and daughter, Lisa Gomer, both of Paragould. Freda was also a beloved sister to Velma Shewbuirt, Ruth Orick, and Jeanette Williams, who will always cherish the memories they shared together.
One of Freda's greatest joys in life was her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Heather Howe, Brianna Hampton, and Makayla Carter, as well as her great-grandchildren, Sloan and Stetson Hampton. Freda's love for her family knew no bounds, and she spent countless hours nurturing and supporting them in all their endeavors.
An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Freda never missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite team. She attended numerous Spring Training games and shared her passion for baseball with her family and friends. Freda's enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and her presence in the stands will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Freda also found great pleasure in spending time in her flower garden, where she cultivated a stunning array of blooms that brought beauty and joy to all who visited her home. Her green thumb and love for gardening were a testament to her nurturing spirit and her appreciation for the beauty of nature.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 28, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 29, at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Larry McFadden officiating.  Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
Tyler Hampton, Tony Carter, Heather Howe, Korie Bryant, Donnie Hopkins, Roth Gourley, Michael Coleman, and Steven Shewbuirt will serve as pallbearers.
