Obituary

Freda Pogue Gattis, 88, passed away on September 13, 2026, at Belle Meade Nursing facility in Paragould, AR. She was born on November 26, 1937.

Freda will be remembered as a godly woman whose life reflected her faith, her care for others, and the love she gave to her family. For years she was a member of the 1st UPC in Paragould. After moving to Tupelo, Mississippi, she attended Cedar Grove United Pentecostal Church, and when she later moved back to Arkansas, she attended Turnpoint Church in Brookland, AR. Her faith and church life remained an important part of who she was throughout the years.

She found joy in many meaningful pursuits. Freda loved writing poems and even had one published, a reflection of her thoughtful spirit and creative heart. She also enjoyed researching family genealogies, taking interest in history and connections. In her home and in her daily life, she loved cooking, and she was also a caregiver to the elderly, offering compassion and service to those who needed it.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert and Beaulah Eubanks; by her husbands, Donald Pogue and Lawrence Gattis; by her son, Freddie Pogue; by her daughter-in-law, Julia Pogue; and by her brothers and sisters, Gerald Eubanks, Mack Eubanks, A.J. Eubanks, Amber Eubanks, Otto Eubanks, Loretta Canamore, Ruby Emler, Fern Sloan, and Flora Austin.

Freda leaves behind a family who will continue to cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, Ed Pogue; granddaughter, Ashley Denton (Darrell); her grandsons Will Pogue (Audrey), and Ben Pogue (Tatum); and her great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Faith Denton.
