Gary Keith Shockley of Paragould, AR went to his Heavenly home Saturday, August 8th 2026. Gary will be remembered for his love of family, his many friendships, sense of humor, and his gift for telling stories that kept the past alive. Those who love Gary find peace knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lila; his children, Susan and Jason; his granddaughter, Olivia & his brother, Scott.

Gary was a familiar and friendly face to many in his community. He never seemed to meet a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He also loved telling stories about the past, sharing memories and experiences from throughout his life. Those who knew him will always have a story or a memory of Gary to cherish.

Gary was born August, 30th 1948, to O.Z Shockley and Helen Purdom Shockley. He married Lila Carol Moates December 26th, 1969. Gary’s fondest memories were those spent with family. He loved watching his grandson play baseball, going to antique car shows, discovering lost treasures at yard sales & snuggling with his beloved dachshund Buddy.

Gary is preceded in death by his wife, Lila Carol Shockley; daughter, Susan Renee Shockley England; son, Jason Wyatt Shockley; granddaughter, Olivia Catherine England; his parents, O.Z. Shockley and Helen Purdom Shockley; brother, Scott Shockley; father-in-law, Raymond Moats; and mother-in-law, Opal Gary Moats.

He leaves behind his faithful dachshund, Buddy; son-in-law and wife, Chris and Ashley England; grandson, Lane England of Paragould, Arkansas; daughter-in-law and husband, Carmen and Doug Kimbrough; and granddaughter, Evie Shockley of Austin, Texas.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 14, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.  The burial will be a private service.

The family would like to especially thank those who helped care for Gary and Lila in their final years, who always made themselves available to help at a moment’s notice: Melvin and Cathy Howard, Gary and Diane Rogers, David and Katie Wolz, Christy Cooper, Ursula Nicely and Lisa Morris. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the kindness and love you’ve shown.
