Genieve Mangrum, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 86. Born on May 28, 1938, in Walcott, Arkansas, to the late Ezra and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Wall. Genieve's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her strong work ethic, and her love for the simple pleasures in life.
Genieve's journey began in the small town of Walcott, but her ambitions and dreams soon saw her moving to Michigan in 1955. It was there she joined the workforce at GM, where she dedicated 17 years of service until her retirement in 1985. Genieve's time at GM was not just about her career, but also about the lasting friendships she formed and the pride she took in her work.
After her retirement, Genieve returned to her roots in Paragould, Arkansas. Her passion for road trips was well-known, with Branson being a favorite destination. Genieve's love for adventure also saw her spending countless hours camping with her family, a tradition that brought laughter and joy to all involved.
An avid enthusiast of the natural world, Genieve loved to fish and golf. Her adventurous spirit was further evident in her enjoyment of riding snowmobiles, an activity that combined her love for speed with her appreciation for the winter's beauty.
Genieve's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Her involvement in the church community was a testament to her belief in compassion, service, and fellowship.
Family was the heart of Genieve's world. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, James "Jimmy" Mangrum. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their mutual respect, love, and shared values. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Jim Mangrum and his wife Darlene, and Tracy Mangrum. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Lisa Brock and Logan Mangrum, and her great-grandchildren, A.J., Owen, and Isaac Brock.
Genieve also leaves behind a special niece, Sara Bayird, who held a unique place in her heart. Her siblings, Grace, Truman, James, Woodrow, Hancil, Jean, Kathryn, Clara, and Leonard, preceded her in death, but the memories they created together will live on through the stories passed down within the family.
