George Stanley Downs, 68 of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012. He was born March 5, 1944 in Walcott to the late Dolphus and Mavis Downs. Mr. Downs was retired from L.A. Darling and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.Preceding him in death were his parents and wife, Dorthy.Survivors include three step-sons; two step-daughters; one brother, David; one sister and brother-in-law, Ava and Leotis Slatton and one neice Janet (Charles) Pratt.Visitation will be Friday, April 20, 2012 10:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Gary W. Winters, Sr., Pastor of Jonesboro Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery
