George William Riley passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, surrounded by his family in Paragould, AR., at the age of 90. He was born on August 19, 1935 in Cherry Valley, AR to Oliver and Lula Riley. He attended school at Harrisburg, AR, where he graduated with the class of 1954.
George had a successful career as a Maintenance Supervisor for Halstead Industries in Wynne, AR. He retired from Rubatex Industries in Colt, AR in the year 1997.
His hobbies included planting annual flower and vegetable gardens, yard work and learning the knowledge of how to repair machinery. George took great pride in grooming and maintaining a well-manicured lawn. He also enjoyed listening to Country Western music and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
George was baptized at the Wynne Church of Christ in 1963, where he later served as a deacon for several years. He has been a faithful follower of Christ throughout his life.
George appreciated humor and clever dialogue. In most all encounters with people, he chose to bring laughter within the conversation.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim, Reed and L.D.; and sisters, Naomi McCulley and Louise Early.
George is survived by the love of his life, Lennie, of 67 years and three children: Keith Riley (Terri), Sandra Eddleman (Andy), and Robin Rogers (Gene). He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 24, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Fred Strasser officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery.
Josh Tinnin, Caleb Eddleman, Jake Eddleman, Gene Rogers, Andy Eddleman, and Stephen Riley have the honor to serve as pallbearers.
