Gladys Jerlene Noel-Whiteside-Hyde, 89, of Paragould passed away April 14, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center. She was born October 4, 1921 in the Alexander Community of Greene County. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Elmore, Noel, Holcomb; her father, Edmond Noel; two brother, John Noel, Jr., J. W. Noel and his wife Izetta; first husband, Cleo Whiteside; a son and daughter, Earcel Devon and Gladys Sharon Whiteside; second husband, James (Cotton) Hyde; step-daughter, Jeanette Hyde Liddell; son-in-law, Larry Hooker and a granddaughter, Stacy Lynn Hooker.She is survived by a daughter, Bernetta Sue Whiteside Hooker of Bakersfield, Calif.; a granddaughter, Lori Hooker Meunier and her husband Mike of Lodi, Calif.; a grandson and his wife Steven and Carrie Hooker; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Savannah Hooker all of Bakersfield, Calif; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Gladish and Betty Vaughn both of Paragould; two step-sons, Eugene Hyde and his wife Diane of Paragould and James Jr. Hyde of Illinois; twelve step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, three step-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.The family will receive friends 10-12, Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Phillips Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service 1 PM, Thursday at Reddick Cemetery with Brother Leon Harvey officiating.Special thanks to the owners and staff at Sunshine Manor for making Mom feel like family, to Reba Whiteside for all the attention and affection she gave Aunt Jerlene and to Thelma Sparks and Jean Hendley, her dear friends from church.
