Glenn Dean Carlton, 81, of Paragould, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at this residence on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was born in Spokane, Washington, on November 30, 1944, to William Glenn and Arah Frasure Carlton.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Brenda Carlton; son, Barry Carlton (Julie Forma); daughters, Cindy McMeans (James) and Carrie Johnston; grandchildren, Magan Carlton (Chris Vincent), Madison Petty (Austin Larson), Taylar McCall (Britton), and Sadie Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Brentley Ealy and Lylah Larson; brother, Mike Carlton (Dian); niece, Amie Wyatt (Jeremy); nephews, Todd Emison (Wendy) and Chad Carlton (Missy); and several great-nieces and great nephews. Brittney Clark and Brad Warner were so deeply special to him. He considered them family.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Hester; son-in-law, Wade Johnston; and his long-time best friend, Gerald Clark.
Dean graduated from Monette High School in 1962. He then continued his education in the medical field. He became a LPN, then joined the first ASU RN Nursing Program in 1969-1971. Dean then went to St. Vincent in Little Rock, Arkansas, to study in the Anesthesia Program to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) and graduated in 1972. He lived his life working hard for 45 years, retiring at the end of 2017.
Dean's love of life was playing golf with family, friends, or anyone. He did not meet a stranger, but more than anything his love was going over toward Caraway (Sunken Lands) where the river was. That area was his home place and stomping ground. He could not wait for duck and deer hunting. This area held a special place in Dean’s heart, he always spoke fondly of it and it was the place to be!
Dean was always a man of many words. You never knew what he was going to say!
Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at noon at Phillips Funeral Home with Dave White officiating. Burial will follow at Brown's Chapel Cemetery.
Ronnie Hopper, Ricky Ward, Brad Warner, Scott Mace, Eric Lewis, and David Couples will serve as pallbearers.
