Obituary

Harlin Jerome Chesser, 85, of Paragould, passed away Sunday, May 08, 2022, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.  He was born January 26, 1937, in Paragould, to Charlie and Edna Chesser.  Harlin was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired truck driver.  Cattle, farming, and ballgames were among his many hobbies.  Harlin took great pride in his family and loved nothing more than watching his grandchildren play basketball.  He was a devoted lifetime member of Browns Chapel Baptist Church.


Harlin was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, June Chesser; brothers, Jack Chesser, Joe Memory Chesser, Waylon Chesser, Weldon Chesser, and Warren Chesser; and sisters,  Alma Jean Paris, Mary Sue Chesser, and Monte Chesser.


Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lynda Chesser; grandchildren, Brittany (Alex) Burroughs and Blake Chesser; and sister-in-law, Pat Chesser.


The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 10, from noon until service time at Phillips Funeral Home.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Joe Max Chesser officiating.  Burial will follow at Browns Chapel Cemetery.


Blake Chesser, Alex Burroughs, Casey Rogers, Jeff Wells, Phillip Dunn, and Josh Whitaker will serve as pallbearers.  Max Chesser and Jerry Faulkner will serve as honorary pallbearers.


If one wishes to make a memorial, Harlin would be honored by contributions to Browns Chapel Cemetery.
