Harold "Dennis" Cooper, Jr., 86, of Paragould, passed away at AMMC on Monday, January 22, 2024. He was born October 7, 1937, to Harold, Sr., and Jewel Cooper. Dennis served in the United States Navy for 10 years. After returning to Paragould, he worked at Emerson Electric and retired from there after over 20 years. He was a member of the Center Hill Church of Christ. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to go to any of their activities, and sporting events. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with everyone. He was a very kind and compassionate man and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Dennis loved his family and enjoyed family time.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shelby Cooper; son, Hal Cooper; and sister, Geraldine Dowden.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (David) Wood of Paragould, Renee (Archie) Johnson of Paragould; brother, Lance (Nylea) Cooper; sisters, Carolyn Phillips, Merrollee Atwood, Judy (Jim) Johnston, Brenda (Bill) Kelley; grandchildren, Jacob (Morgan) Johnson, Kyle (Heather) Wood, Jason (Annalise) Wood, Chris (Cassie) Johnson, Ryan Wood, Tyler Wood, Landon Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 26, at Phillips Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with David Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.

Kyle Wood, Jason Wood, Ryan Wood, Tyler Wood, Jacob Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Landon Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
