Hulen Eugene Varner, 74, of Delaplaine, passed away Sunday, January 02, 2022.  He was born September 27, 1947, in Delaplaine, to Charlie and Ora Lee Varner.  Hulen worked at Dr Pepper and then at Waterloo in Pocahontas for 34 years until his retirement.  Working on lawnmowers and hobby farming were favorite pastimes of Hulen's.

Hulen was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cecil Varner and LeVern Varner; and sisters, Dollie Pitcher and Lavon White.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ellen Varner; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey and Laurie Varner, Terry and Marcie Varner; brothers, Oddie Varner and Lyburn Varner; sister, Betty Barnes; grandchildren, Craig Varner, Cory Varner, Cody Varner, Dillon Varner, Ayden Varner, Michael Spink, Zack Spink, and Jessica Roberts; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home will be 2:00 p.m.  Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Jones Ridge Cemetery with Don Slatton officiating.
