James Michael "Jim" Biggs, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on November 4, 1948, to the late James and Maxine Biggs, James was a devoted family man and a proud Vietnam Veteran who touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime.
James is survived by his loving daughters, Jamie (Sherrill) Potter of Paragould and Courtney (Joel) Inman of Paragould; his cherished sisters, Shirley Waites and Deborah (Jerry) Foley; his adored grandchildren, Carson Potter, Gracie Potter, Payton Potter, Hudson Inman, Jaxon Inman, and Mason Inman; as well as several nieces and nephews. His family will always remember him as a caring, supportive, and loving patriarch who continuously put others before himself.
Known to many as a proud "Paw Paw," James treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Whether attending their ball games or simply enjoying their company, he was happiest when surrounded by his family. He was a strong role model and mentor, instilling in them the importance of hard work, dedication, and kindness. His grandchildren will carry on his legacy of love and devotion for generations to come.
As a Vietnam Veteran, James was fiercely proud of his service to his country. He carried the lessons he learned during his time in the military throughout his life, demonstrating strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his family and community. His experiences shaped him into the remarkable man that he became, and his loved ones are forever grateful for the sacrifices he made in service to his nation.
James was a longtime member of the 10th Street Missionary Baptist Church, where he found solace and joy in serving the Lord. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing him with guidance and strength in times of triumph and adversity. His commitment to his faith was evident in the way he treated others, always lending a helping hand or offering a kind word. James's love for the Lord inspired those around him, and his memory will continue to be a beacon of light to all who knew him.
In addition to his devotion to his family and faith, James had a passion for Coca-Cola. His love for the iconic beverage was well-known among friends and family, and he was rarely seen without a bottle or can in hand. This simple pleasure brought him joy throughout his life and served as a reminder of the importance of finding happiness in the small things.
James's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his country. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service that will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Jerry Jolly and Marty Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery.
Sherrill Potter, Joel M. Inman, Carson Potter, Jaxon Inman, Hudson Inman, and Joel Inman will serve as pallbearers.
