Jerry Songer, 83, of Paragould, was born December 26, 1931 at Light, Arkansas and the Lord took him home July 2, 2015. His life began as a farmer as he and his dad farmed at Light, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war, he went to work for General Electric in Jonesboro, Arkansas for 24 years before his retirement. Mr. Songer married Nealy Lucille Reed in 1952. He was the best husband and dad that anyone could want and was a great Christian example to all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Homer and Blanche (Smith) Songer; one sister, Fern Filpot of Stockton, California.

Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Nealy Lucille Songer; daughter and son in law, Linda and Steve Jones; son and daughter in law, Terry and Diane Songer, all of Paragould; grandchildren, Christy Sims, Bradley Vaughn and Brian Songer; great grandchildren, Brooke Rosten, Madison Sims and

Ella Songer.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Center Hill Chapel of Phillips Funeral Home with Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Vaughn, Carl Boozer, Brain Songer, Mike Lyerly, and Shannon Sims. Honorary pallbearer will be Steven Jones.
