Funeral Service
Jimmie Morris Perkins, a devoted family man and an avid outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born on March 7, 1940, in Fayette County, Tennessee, he lived a life rich with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jimmie was a member of Westview Baptist Church and he served in the National Guard in Tennessee for 10 years.
Jimmie was known for his deep passion for hunting and fishing. He made it a tradition to go elk hunting each year, a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. Beyond these pursuits, he was a man who loved working on projects, always eager to create and improve with his own hands. His fondness for traveling, especially visits to Colorado, brought him joy and countless stories to share. Those who knew Jimmie well remember him as someone who could lift spirits with a quick wit and good humor. Above all, his heart belonged to his family - his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who knew him as a friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Perkins, who stood beside him through all of life’s seasons. Together, they shared a family that includes six children: James Gregory "Ormsbe" Perkins and his wife Christy; Jeri Lyn Eaves; Jimmy Lee Perkins and his wife Tonya; Ciera Nicole Perkins and her partner Dylan Wiseman; Mena Ann Waters and her husband David; and Dewayne Monroe and his wife Shelia. Jimmie took immense pride in his 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Lee and Betty Morris (Glover) Perkins’ his infant daughter, Tori Renee Perkins whose brief presence touched their hearts forever; siblings, Betty Lee “Toe Head” Bobbitt, Muriel Edith "Big Momma" Davidson, and Johnny Whitfield “Brother” Perkins—also laid a lasting influence on his life.
The family will honor Jimmie's memory with a visitation on Thursday, March 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Both will be held at Phillips Funeral Home.
