Jimmy Wayne Bateman, 77, of Paragould, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was born October 4, 1943, to James and Juanita Bateman. Jimmy worked until retirement at Paragould Light Water & Cable. He loved to go fishing, do woodwork, and carpentry. He served in the National Guard and was the greatest story teller. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Sue Bateman; and wife Glenda (Hale) Bateman.
Survivors include his daughters, Donna Hagar, Diana McCarty (Tommy); son, Kenny Bateman (Kristy); brothers, Jerry Bateman (Brenda), Rick Bateman (Leann), and Tim Bateman (Jill); sisters, Kay Herrod (Charles), Connie Mullikin (Dale), and Janet Hampton (Danny); grandchildren, Nick Galczynski, Kristen Galczynski, Lindsay Bateman, and Katlyn Hass; and great-grandchildren, Anna Galczynski and Madison Galczynski.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Monday, May 24, at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with Don Slatton officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Barry Branscum, Jason Hale, Tommy Wofford, Michael Branscum, Curt Branscum, and Nick Galczynski will serve as pallbearers. Mervin Hunter will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Lasting memorials may be made to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
