Jimmy Lawson, a proud veteran whose lifelong dedication to his country was reflected in nearly two decades of military service, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was born on December 11, 1937, in Paragould, Arkansas, and throughout his life carried with him the values and discipline instilled during his early years.

Jimmy enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954, serving with honor and distinction until 1973. Following his active duty, he continued his commitment to his country by serving in the National Guard. He retired with the rank of EMCM, a testament to his steadfast leadership and dedication. His military career was a defining chapter in his life, emblematic of his unwavering sense of duty and patriotism.

Beyond his military accomplishments, Jimmy was a man with a genuine passion for cars. Known among family and friends for his enthusiasm, he often indulged in his love for automobiles—sometimes purchasing a new car every few months.

Jimmy's family and friends remember him with great affection. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Addie Lawson, as well as his siblings: Eugene Lawson, Fred Lawson, Ted Lawson, Tom Lawson, Ken Lawson, Claire Ford, and Rose Rippy. He is survived by his niece, Addie Lawson; friends, Kevin and Jerri Blue; and several nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Jimmy Lawson embodied the virtues of service, loyalty, and kindness. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be remembered with deep respect and lasting admiration.
