Joan (Stevenson) Yarbrough passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in her lifelong hometown of Paragould, Arkansas, at the age of 94. Born on June 11, 1932, in Paragould, Joan was the cherished daughter of Carl and Audrey Stevenson. Throughout her long and meaningful life, Joan exemplified kindness, strength, and a deep commitment to family.
Joan dedicated herself to her role as a homemaker, finding great joy in nurturing her loved ones and her home. She was known for her green thumb—an avid gardener, Joan took pride in tending flowers and cultivating the beauty around her. Her care extended far beyond her garden; she excelled in caring for others, offering support, love, and wisdom to all who crossed her path.
Joan most enjoyed simple pleasures, such as camping and fishing with her family at Lake Charles. These experiences became cherished traditions, filled with laughter and togetherness.
A woman of deep faith, Joan was a devoted member of Woods Chapel Methodist Church.
Joan is survived by her loving sons, Gary Yarbrough and Danny Yarbrough (Beverly), and her cherished son-in-law, Larey Ashley. Her spirit and memory live on in her beloved grandchildren: Cassie Titus (Matt), Ginger Ashley, Gary Lee Yarbrough (Nicole), Kyle Yarbrough, and Heath Yarbrough. She will also be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Rydia Titus, Gareth Yarbrough, and Garrison Yarbrough. Joan also leaves behind her dear sister, Elaine Skaggs.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Yarbrough; her treasured daughter, Pam Ashley; her parents, Carl and Audrey Stevenson; her brother, Buster Stevenson; and her sister, Carmon Dollar.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. A procession will leave Phillips Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. for a graveside service with Gary Lee Yarbrough officiating at Greene County Memorial Gardens.
Gary, Danny, Kyle, Heath, Gareth, and Garrison Yarbrough, and Larey Ashley will serve as pallbearers.
