Retired Chief Warrant Officer 3, Joe Wayne Cheshire, 67, born December 6, 1953, in St. Louis, Mo., passed away on March 18, 2021, at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. Joe is a Veteran of the U. S. Army with him serving 20 years. He also served in the Gulf War. He received numerous awards and medals for his service. Joe was an avid gun collector and his prized possession was his lawn mower. He loved his grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed attending ball games, hunting, fishing, teaching life lessons, and just the random dances.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Joe T. and Frankie Cheshire; daughter, Jamie Thomason; and grandson, Maddox Thomason.
Survivors include his wife, Jum Soon "Lee" Cheshire; daughter, Jackie (Sean) Straub; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hayden, and Emerald Thomason, Jasmine Straub; sisters, Kathy Murray, Karon Gilkison; brother, Danny (Beth) Cheshire; and many nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 23, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Phillips Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
