Joe E. Thompson, 80, of Paragould passed from this life on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born in Paragould on August 7, 1933 to the late Cecil and Cora Thompson. He was a retired sawmill worker, club operator, and commercial fisherman. Joe was a great family man and avid outdoorsman. He spent most of his time hunting and fishing. His family and friends were the most important things in his life. He always took care of anyone in need. He will truly be missed.Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Billy and Loyd Thompson; three sisters, Louise Doe, Darlene Wilbourne and Betty Smith; and one daughter, Kristina Kay Taylor.He is survived by three brothers, Bud, Frosty and Kenneth Thompson; one sister, Linda Lyles; three sons, Gary, Terry and Joe Thompson; two daughters, Patty Gathright and Emily Boak; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and an abundance of wonderful friends.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home.
