John L. Johnston - July 20, 2012 John L. Johnston, 90, of Las Vegas, NV passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 in the Veteran's Hospital in Las Vegas. He was born November 17, 1921 in Brookland to Prezzie and Hattie Johnston. He graduated from Brookland High School in 1940, attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro and was a US Navy veteran. He lived in Las Vegas about 60 years and was an owner/operator truck driver. John enjoyed working and driving a truck more than anything he ever did.Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Barbara; a son, Lindell; a granddaughter, Alisha; a brother, Roy Johnston; four nephews, Bradley Enright, Gene Johnston, Jerry Johnston and Bradley Childers.Survivors include his wife, Jean of the home; two daughters, Katherine of Las Vegas and Carolyn of California; one sister, Mabel Enright of Las Vegas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a long-time friend and school mate, Willis Gibson of Paragould.Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Cook officiating. Phillips Funeral Home of Paragould is in charge of arrangements.
